“DURBUY” — a new short blouson made from Japanese wool-blend mossa.
For 26FW we replaced the melton we had used for many years with a wool-blend mossa woven in Japan. The brushed surface gives the fabric real substance without the stiffness of melton, and it feels plump and soft in the hand. A high wool content provides warmth you can rely on from early autumn through midwinter.
A short length with ribbed cuffs and hem. The body is roomy, yet the silhouette stays neat and trim, so it never looks heavy despite the fabric’s volume. The front closes with a zip — unusual for BASISBROEK, where buttons are the norm. It is easy to put on and take off, and large flap pockets on either side add a design accent.
There is enough room to wear it over a knit or sweatshirt, and the length works with any pants, from wide to tapered.
MADE IN JAPAN
Every piece is sewn one at a time at a factory in Gifu, using fabrics carefully selected in Japan.
Gifu is one of Japan’s foremost garment-making regions and has long supported the country’s apparel industry. The skill built up there shows most in the places the wearer rarely sees — in how the seam allowances are finished, and in how the stitching is adjusted to the character of each fabric.
Even with the same pattern and the same fabric, the silhouette changes depending on who sews it. That is why we continue to make our clothes in Japan.
The difference is less obvious the moment you first put it on than after many washes and years of wear — that is when it becomes unmistakable.
